The Strategy
EAD processing is slow. This applicant used a two-step approach to get approved in < 3 months.
Step 1: Ask Emma (USCIS)
Use the online chat "Ask Emma" to request an expedited review. Tip: Type your reason in Notepad first so you can paste it immediately. Reasons must be strong (e.g., Severe Financial Loss, Humanitarian).
Step 2: Contact Senator/Congressman
Found the local Congressman's website and submitted a "Help with a Federal Agency" request.
- Argument: "I am a healthcare worker doing cancer research. My J-1 is expiring. If I stop, critical research stops."
- Outcome: Approved 1 week after Senator's inquiry. Card received 10 days later.
